Twin Loop muffler 2.25 inlet on 2.5 exhaust
I'm going to be getting custom 2.5 inch piping and need to find a muffler for my set up. I was thinking of going with the twin loop muffler that JDM Car Boy is selling here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1357107. Only problem is that it has a 2.25 inch inlet. Would this create a problem and have a negative effect on horsepower? Would it even fit?
i have this muffler on my 4th gen prelude. it was kind of a bitch fitting it in. the tip is too long. you'd have to cut the inlet piping. and have them bend it and weld it to fit. and my muffler had to be turned to clear the twin loop cuz it doesnt fit regularly like EG's and such. but it sounds great tho! and great low end torque!
i have compared it to a Apex WS2. one of my co-worker has a SE-R with the full WS2 Cat-back. his is quiet at idle but when he revs it, it gets a bit raspy. considering my twin-loop with headers into a hollowed cat with a 2.25" piping all the way to the muffler. no resonator. and mine still sounds quiet than his. to be honest when your inside it sounds like a G35 just a bit louder. but its a really good muffler!
yeah i agree i have a similar setup, headers, carsound high flow cat, 2.25" back to the JDM carboy twin loop without a resonator i might add, and it sounds awesome. i dont know what it compares to but it sounded alot better than my magnaflow i had.
well other than the obvious bottleneck a smaller muffler inlet is going to create, you have to deal with fitment problems....
just get a vibrant flat black muffler, i hear nothing but good things about/coming out of them....

the only thing down side, which is nothing much, is the tip is too long. it makes it hard to fit especially on a 4th gen. but other than that. its sounds really nice though!
hmm... i have a tsudo full catback exhaust right now and was wondering if i changed the canister to this one.. would it sound a lot quieter? or would i have to re-do all the piping? mods are aem intake type S cams and a DC header on a jdm h22

couldn't a muffler shop chop off the 2.25" inlet, hollow out the hole to 2.5" and connect a 2.5" pipe?
