Default jdm d15b vtec questions

i have some questions about the jdm d15b vtec

about the pistons ive heard that u have to get them specialy made. how much does that cost?

d15bs are hydro trannys but could they bolt up to a cable tranny?

whats the d15b C/R?

whats the best ecu for a d15b?

besides hmotorsonline.com what are some other sites to buy the d15b from?

thanks.

i got my d15b from hmotors... ummm you can try jaydm.com and also passwordjdm.com donno if they have em n e more though. dunno on the pistons never had to change them but i think d series pistons would work fine. i used a p72 ecu gsr.... worked great vtec you heard but didnt pull as hard as my dohc. i used my stock si tranny also and it worked good, just put a new clutch and flywheel on.

You used a dohc b-series ecu for a sohc d series engine? That would make the engine run really rich imo.

I've never heard of having your pistons specially made. ?

Cable Transmission will bolt up.

The ratio is 9.1:1 I believe.

The best ecu for the d15b is either a p28 or p08 (i think thats what comes with it stock).

you can use any d series rods

pistons either have to be custom made or you would need to use suzuki vitara pistons

Does anyone know of a JDM D15B motor's dist and fuel pump are the same as the USDM D15Bs? Also are the spark plug wires? Sorry to jack the thread. Didnt think I would need to make a new one.

you are not going to be able to get the performance you should get out of the motor by staying obd0. but use the jdm b16 ecu. warning tho, it will run rich

Just Makin Sure... And One last question for me... I know the D15B comes OBD-1.... and my car stock is OBD-0... When placing the motor in all i need in a kit where my Stock ECU connects converted over to a OBD-1 Harness... If you understood that haha?

no you need more then that. you need:

p28 ecu
obd1 fuel injectors and matching pigtails (92-95 civic)
obd0-obd1 harness
4 wire o2 sensor

The c/r is 9.4:1. Some have used z6 pistons as well as vitrara pistons. Which makes since, because the compression height of the z6 and vitrara pistons are the same. If you are scared to try that then use 01-03 gx pistons, they have the same compression height of the d15b (27mm), or go custom.

you can also use a pm6( 88-91 si/ mpfi) or pr4( non vtec twin cam/mpfi) ecu, and run a vtec activator switch, like a vtec controller

and using a switch is basicly pointless as vtec relys on more than a eletrical source to the sielnoid (sp? lol)
