you said the harness was cut. you need to check the fuse under the hood and under the dash. Do you have a dvm to check your wiring.
actually the only ones you need to have it function properly are...
power
ACC
ground
speakers.
the other ones shouldnt even have to be hooked up

Do not connect the blue to the red/black, if you have a power ant. connect the blue to brown/white, CAUTION if you have a power ant. there are 2 brown/whites, if you do not have a power ant. do not connect the blue to anything, and if your HU does not have an orange wire, do not connect anything to the red/black, CAP IT OFF, so it cant short out.

PS. check the radio acc., [yellow/red] fuse in the under dash fuse box, and the constant power, [white/blue] fuse in under hood fuse box, (7.5A)..

knowing this i block the blue wire off also? if i have it connected it will not work correct? And do you know what number those fuses are?
So i cut the blue wire and red/blk wire and the only thing that work is the cd eject button. The display doesnt come on do you think its a defect on the headunit or what?
tie your red and yellow together and apply 12v and ground the black wire to metal in the car. If the radio does not power up then the radio is bad or maybe you are pressing the wrong power button some radios can be confusing.
what i would do is disconnect all the wires.
then hook up the ground, power wire, and acc wire.
see if the HU turns on all the way.
if it doesnt then i think the HU is dead.
if the thing does turn on, then connect the speakers to it and see if it plays, if it does then dont worry bout the rest of the wires

On most HUs the eject will work even if the HU and/or the ign. is turned off, because it gets it's power from the 12V+ constant, [yellow on HU and white/blue in oem radio harness] it is fused in the under hood fuse box, [probably a 7.5A fuse] and it sounds like it is OK, but if the HU will not turn on, it is not getting 12V+ acc. power, [red on HU and yellow/red in oem radio harness] or there is something wrong with the HU, check the fuses.

PS what kind of HU is it, make and model?

already checked the fuses i believe they were 3 and maybe 18... but checked both of them and they are perectly fine..i to try hooking it up to a 12v and ground it to see if it works...
update. So i returned the headunit for a different pioneer. I hooked up the power(red), ground(blk), and constant power(yellow) wires and it turned on. I started to hook the other wires up and now it wont turn on. I took everything off and left the power, ground, and constant power and it stil wont work. Anyone know waht the problem is
It sounds like you may have a shorted out speaker or speaker lead, have you rechecked the fuses in the HU and the acc. fuse in the under dash fuse box and the constant, [back up] power fuse, [probably a 7.5A] in the under hood fuse box.
A shorted out speaker or speaker lead can damage the unit and/or blow fuses, if you find a blown fuse, you will need to test the speaker leads for a short before you connect the HU to them again, you will need a multimeter to do that.
A cheap test, [will only tell if a speaker or speaker lead is shorted to ground] is to take a 9V batt. connect one term. to ground, and then touch each of the 8 speaker leads. [4 pos. (+) and 4 neg. (-)] to the other term. if a speaker "pops" you have a short to ground, you can get an idea if you have a shorted speaker by touching the pos. and neg. speaker leads to the pos. and neg. of the batt., all the speakers should "pop" at about the same "volume", however do the first test first, as a speaker or speaker lead that is shorted ground will still "pop" as long as it's only the pos. or neg. side that is shorted, if both pos. and neg. are shorted the speaker will not "pop" ether the first or second way of testing
