the heat/ac... its weird, let it warm up for 5 mins and its warm and toasty, but if you start driving it it isnt warm air coming out of the vents anymore. and the engine idles at 1500 like it isnt warm...? which thermo should i use? will a b18 thermo be alright? thanks

Yup, definitely sounds like a stuck open thermostat, or a thermostat not even being there at all.
It gets warm when you're sitting there because there's no air flowing through the radiator. The coolant gets warmed by the engine, and flows through your heater core and you get warm air. As soon as you start driving, since the thermostat is open (or not there), the coolant continuously cycles through not giving it time to "heat up" so you don't get hot air from the vents.
Any Honda thermostat is fine, or even just an OEM replacement at Pep Boys or something. That's what I use.
