Default B16a motor is Overheating. What could it be?

My Del Sol is overheating.I have a B16a SiRII motor in it. I checked coolant levels and oil level. There are no coolant leaks anywhere. I did notice that the cooling fan is not working. Could that be the sole problem.Any ideas?

I was thinking it could be the water pump. How could I check to see if that is it? Does anybody else think that is a possiblity?

Thermostat is probably what it is. I believe it actuates your fan.

It can be a termistat. Crank up your car let it idle for like 5 min, then squeze ur radiator hose, if the hose is hard, change it out. Its not hard to change a termistat. just take out the termistat housing out the replace it.

your close but a little off, let your car warm up and keep feeling the lower radiator hose to see if the thermostat opens. If your car overheats and the lower hose is cold its your thermostat, it its hot then your fan switch(whatever its called) is bad.

I changed the fan switch and everything seems to be working all right. I am going to drive it harder and see what happens.

I had a guy tell me to hook up the fan to were it will turn on when the engine turns on. Is that a bad or good idea?

It is the thermostat. Still overheating and the upper radiator hose is blazing hot while the lower is cold. Does that sound like a thermostat to you guys?

mite be your thrmostat, jus change it neway, takes like 30 min, u might as well change ur water pump too before it goes, and while your at it your timing belt..this is alot more work.....my thermostat was bad, but instead of overheating, it would under heat and never warm up
