Default New Cat Offering

Guys I hope I'm not jumping the gun here. I'll be offering a new style Car Sound cat in a few days a long as there are no fitment issues. 2 of these cats have gone out to customers for test fitting and as soon as they install them we'll know if there is improved clearance for the 2nd O2 sensor.

The new cat has the O2 bung in a near stock location. In addition this cat will have an extra O2 bung located before the catalyst. This bung will come with a plug and can be used for a wide band hook up point at the dyno. This is something else that will be checked in the coming days.

I'm also going to be offering an alternative to the 54006, the new cat will look similar to the above but will be shorter for tight installs, i.e. 99 and pre GSRs with JDM headers. This new shorter cat "should" flow better than the 54006 due to increased catalyst area. I plan on having some of these models flow tested in the near future.

Also for those who want to tone the exhaust down a little more, Car Sound is offering a cat with an integrated resonator. However this cat has a longer body and would require modification to the B pipe. I don't think this is a big deal since the majority of the B pipes on systems out there should be modified to match the ID of the cat outlet.

I wish you had this a few weeks ago. I had a problems with the O2 clearance on two different Cats. I was finally able to modify one to just clear the shift linkage. Looks like the new one will be much better.

Dude, sweet. Seriously though, I agree with Geroge
This will work with stock or with JDM 4-1?

Dave, would you mind giving us some specs as far as Model #, ID/OD and a few prices?

Thanks, can't wait to finally make my car EPA legal (again). Ed

The one pictured is the 2-1/2" cat for the JDM headers. A 2-1/4" cat, that's slightly longer, is used for stock set ups and USDM headers. But they both will have the bungs in the same locations.

I hope you don't forget to let us know when they are available? Is there an estimate price for the JDM headers? Can I get on the list to get one when they are avaiable? Are they going to make the car soudn louder or the same?
Why is the sky blue? I like to ask questions.....

I hope that 2 of these will be installed on ITRs by this weekend along with a shorter version on a GSR/JDM set up. I'll try to update you on Sunday. I have some present stock but I'm currently holding orders until fitment is assured. New orders probably won't go out for 1-1/2 weeks. This cat is like the 94006 that I and other have been using so sound won't change from those. Not sure whay you mean by pricing on the JDM headers. I don't sell any JDM parts.

The sky is blue because people run cats, sorry Mike just had to get that in there.

My best guess would be that a 2 Bung OBDII Cat, JDM Donut, 3 bolt gasket and hardware would go forabout $185 + shipping.
Check with Dave to make sure. Ed

Yes, you'd need a 2-1/4" for stock set up or the 2-1/2" for JDM. THe cat lengths are the same for the Si and ITRs.

Kamell, Notice in my picture above how I make numerous tack welds down each side of the cat's heat shield. These cats only come with 3 spot welds per side for the heat shield and this has proved to be insufficient.
