Gear-speed sellls just the synchros. Either in a set of 1-5 or 3/4/5.
I think its like $140 for 3/4/5 which are carbon coated and it depends on which 2ng gear syncro you need will vary the price of the 1-5 set (1 and 2 not carbon coated). At most $265 shipped. You can't buy just the synchro from the dealer, you have to buy the gear set which is $$$.
Good luck. I'll be doing this same thing sometime this winter but hopefully a little more than synchros

Before you go and start spending a lot of money replacing synchros, gears and what not. Why not try and replace your transmission fluid for some good Honda MTF. And wait about a week or two and see if the grinding goes away. If it does, great, I just saved you like 200 bux.
If not, oh well, you were going to replace the synchros/gears anyway.

You shouldn't need the gear set, just the synchros. Also, I would take mach69's advice first
. If you have tranny just lying around and you plan on rebuilding it, then just take it apart and see what parts are worn/broke and start figuring out what you need from there. Once you start replacing bearings it starts to get expensive b/c alll those bearings add up. Gear-speed sells a "bearing/seal" rebuild kit for about $240. I don't know which bearings it includes though, but I'm sure its all the main ones. I have NEVER bought anything from gear-speed so I am only using their name b/c they are clearly the dominate tranny builder for hondas. They are even contracted with Honda to rebuild their trannies. They know what they are doing
and have decent prices for parts......the price for their labor is
....but I guess you get what you pay for.

Gear-Speed is a top-notch company. I have a set of carbon-coated synchros in my S1 tranny...very smooth shifting even at 8500+ rpm.
ok so i called the guys at gear speed today the prices are sincros=225 for normal1-2 and carbon coated 3-5 and 225 for the berring set and an aditional 20$ each diff berring
not to bad i guess but all im getting is the sincros
mabe ill do a sweet write up on how to install them in my s1 cable trans
tell me what you think

I too bought all the synchros/bearings from Gear Speed and they were great to deal with. My synchros are still breaking in (stiff shifting) but it was a good investment.
You won't regret it.
