Should I sell the prelude?
So I am debating selling my 99 prelude and getting an 05 or 06 WRX. I went and test drove both a WRX and a STi. The WRX felt about as fast as the prelude, maybe even a little slower, but I really didnt jump on it too much since the sales guy was with me.
Does anyone have any experience with Subaru products? I have really only owned honda stuff, but honestly the prelude is getting old, and honda really doesnt make much that appeals to me right now. Any ideas? Its going to be hard to let my car go, but I think it may be time....

You are asking a prelude forum if you should sell your car, so what do you expect us to tell you?
Anyway its up to you, if you like the WRX go for it. I personally love my prelude and if i sell it, i'll just end up buying another one.

Just a side note. When you're test driving a car, feel free to go wide open with it, even if you're with a salesmen. He won't mind because he'll think it would make you want to buy the car, which means he gets paid more
i used to love the WRX. It looked great, drove really well. Then I threw a new turbo in, some injectors, changed the plugs a few times. I now cry whenever my friends show me pictures of the EJ20.
My point is this: If you like working on your car and getting our hands dirty, dont get it, even those who own them curse them for their insane learning curve. If you just want stock power, or mild modding here and there, get it and youll have lots of fun in the rain this winter

I know and I love the prelude...but its getting old, burning oil, needs a new clutch etc etc...just think it may be time for something else but I am not sure what that something else is.

get the subies while they still have a decent looking front end...that new suzuki looking grill is ugly as hell...
as far as subie products go, they're solid. a few friends with WRX's and they're fairly reliable, easy to work on, and fast.
the one thing that makes me not want to get one is the fact that subie dealers are some of the shiestiest when it comes to warranty work. my best friend's 03 WRX has a weird noise in the brake/front suspension that the subie tech was trying to blame on his aftermarket (which is actually STOCK) exhaust.

Hey, it's a love or hate thing. I love the way my 06 looks, more *****y/slanted (aggressive) instead of the cute puppy pitbull look. This is coming from an 04, 05, and now 06 owner.

This issue depends on the dealership. Some are shady and ******, some are mod friendly.
As for the suspenion noise problem and the dealer blaming it on his exhaust, that's complete BS. There's a law (I forgot what it's called) stating that for a mod to void warranty it needs to be proved that the mod actually caused the problem.
So basically, if someone with a Subie has a problem with his clutch, the dealership can't say, "oh it's caused by the blow off valve".
You friend needs to go kick some asses or file a complaint to SOA.
Now back to the thread originator. Once you go turbo, you'll never come back to N/A.
Any questions feel free to PM or aim me.

Dunno about Suby's . . . never been a huge fan of AWD that much. Just my thing. If you want the WRX STi, go for it.
What about other performance car choices? If you don't mind 2 seaters, the 350Z and the S2000 are good.

Moss-Magnuson is the law that dictates what is allowed to nullify a warranty.
I think they're okay, but I prefer the Prelude simply for it's exclusivity factor. EVERYBODY has a WRX, and yeah, there is a reason for it. They're good cars.
Just don't get a veedub.
