How to route my exhaust?!
I am turboing the CRX and am using a 3" dp and want a 3" exhaust as well. I bought the smallest 3" muffler I could find around here and when I mocked it up under the car and it will not fit the way I want. Instead, it appears it is going to have to fit like so:

The muffler is this one right here

I don't really like the exhaust sticking out all crooked like that.
What do you guys think about routing it this way?

Is there any performance benefits or sound benefits with either one? what is the most common method? ARGH!

i'd like to see something original, why dont you route it to the drivers side and then exit the driver side.
go from the downpipe to the drivers side rear control arm at an angle and then just straight out the rear

with this idea you could use 2.5" because you wouldnt have all thoes harsh bends.

just a quick illustration of what im talking about
and put that resonator/muffler out in the middle where the cat should be

I routed my 3" the stock way, but instead of amuffler I used one Resonator where the muffler would be, if stock. Sounds great and almost lokos factory. Ihave it a lil bit of a 'turbo tilt'...pointed the exhaust opening upward alittle. If I didnt do that,it would have hung well below the opening. For some reason I had to do that because the resonator was hitting the body of the car before I coul dget teh exhaust in teh desired location. I also bought a magnaflow 3" muffler for this setup.but sold it once I saw that it was too long to go in teh stock location.

I agree. I used a resinator from a 99' Buick, Century. Love the looks and sound

Full exh is for sissies! haha jk Its all about the electric cut out. You can leave the stock exh. on and pass emissions, press a button and your open DP and it sounds siiiiick... Cost me a grand total of $250 plus time and labor, but thats with flanges and 3in piping ect ect but Im very pleased with my EXH.
Just a thought instead of running a full exh.

I don't have a muffler on my turbo ZC, I used a resonator from a SHO. Sounds great, no "Honda buzz". Fit in the same place as the stock muffler and after I painted it black you can't even see it.

No, you dont need 2 different tunes. Thats BS, people have tested it with it open and closed with minimal change in AFR. (like .1-3, weather will effect it more then that) With mine closed I cant build more then 2lbs of boost so I dont see why Id need another fuel map..... Stock EXH. is teh win for DD and 3in open DP ownz all for fast spool and track/street races..... Its the best of both worlds and I dont think that anyone will ever be able to change my mind.
