What a shame, I enjoyed watching him drive.
Oddly out of the blue on either this Thursday or Friday, I suddenly thought of Richard Burns and wondered what had become of him since his illness was announced and I had not heard anything for years. Unfortunately the answer was the sorriest news of all.

That's so strange... yesterday at lunch I found a 2001 car magazine in my desk at work and took it to read during lunch. It mentioned Burns and I too was wondering what he was up to. I'm sorry to hear that somebody so young and talented has passed away.

I'd heard it on the WRC board. Really caught alot of people unexpectedly. He seemed to have been recovering a year ago, and then it all back slid.
He and Michael Parks, in one year.

My god, I hadn't heard a single thing about this until right now, I remember Idolizing him when i first got into rallying, Man I'm so disspaointed the national racing community didn't give more exposure to this. What a loss

Its an emotion I share with you, sadly WRC is pretty low on the popularity chain. Now had Britney Spears or the next tv star developed a wart on her face, we'd have 20 news reports, 3 special broadcasts and a NBC reality show within the week.
You ask an average person who Richard Burns or Ayrton Senna was they will go "Huh?" but ask them who the last American Idol was and they will recount their life history for you.
I found the tribute page on Jamie Thomas' site touching... http://www.subiegal.com

Yeah, I also find this to be true way to often. Very sad really...
