Carbon fibre hood - latch problem
sorry if this is the wrong section to post, so move if so.
i have recently put on my CF bonnet for my DC2R (AUSDM) quad headlight.
everything fits perfectly except for 1 problem.
my problem is that the bonnet will NOT CLOSE AT ALL.
the bonnet catches the latch but will not FULLY CLOSE.
ive tried everything placing bonnet onto the latch and pushing the bonnet down to close, but it just pops back up
i've searched various forums and one other person has said that the latch spring is too tight and needs to be loosened (as CF bonnets are way lighter thatn OEM)
so if anyone can help..
please do

yes.
im thinking that the spring latch is tensioned for the OEM bonnet which is much heavier that the CF bonnet.
The CF bonnet is just too light for the latch spring to catch and hold it.

woa, just out of curiosity, can you explain what you did to fix the problem? i'm curious, and i'm sure some people will be too if they have the same problem someday down the road.

Open the hood up and look at the latch on the lower panel, it should have 3 x 10mm bolts holding it in place. You need to loosen these and move the latch about until you get it to hook onto the hood clip correctly. I had to do this with my hood. When i fitted it it would close down and catch in the latch but sat about an inch high. By moving the latch down and all the way to the right it closed down perfectly. It helps to have someone with you to release the hood each time as its a pain having to walk around and release it from inside the car each time.
The latch is simple to get at in JDM ITRs but i'm not sure about US/Aus ITRs.

When i fitted mine originally i was totally stumped as to what the problem was, i got out the measuring tape and thought maybe the CF hood latch was off centre or something, and i was about to take the hood off and put it up for sale thinking the front end of my car was fucked up somehow when i spotted the three bolts for the latch. After about 6 attempts moving the latch up/down/left/right it finally closed down perfectly. I was so freekin relieved but i forgot to mark the location of the latch for the stock hood so i'll have to do the same **** again when i refit the OEM hood when it comes time to sell the car
