i've got 50 bucks on you didnt blow out your vtec solenoid.
never heard of one going bad, what actually happened, does your engine just not cross over anymore? do you have any check engine lights?

true. just cause vtec doesn't engage doesn't mean the solenoid is bad. if you have a check engine light, your motor goes into safety mode. safety mode stops vtec, and won't let you rev past 5500 rpms either (i think thats the limiter, i've never had a check engine light, knock on wood
).

the solenoid is probably still good, but go to autozone, and ask them to check what your engine light means.
get that fixed and you will have vtec again, and dont go to 8000 anymore, stay below 7500.

there are lots of things that could make your light come on, thats why we are telling you to go to autozone and have them check your ecu. they will be able to tell you exactlly what is wrong with your car, and what you need to do to fix it. and no offense, but you might want to have someone else fix it for you.
edit: why do you have 2 posts in this forum for the same thing? read the 2nd person's comment on your other post. try the paperclip thing he talks about. if you need more help on how to do it, let me know.

i'm sure it's not the vtec solenoid.
it's the engine running in limp mode that's causing the VTEC to not engage. it could be anything, from a faulty secondary O2, to a misfire, to the speed sensor not being plugged in. get the code checked out.
