how easy to tune ls/vtec?
Im asking because im starting soon and will have 12:1 compresion with je pistons eagle rods and the block will be sleaved. So is there going to be a lot of tuning to get this beast running? Thanks
tuning is more dependant on the cam timing and cams you have. like stock cams are alot easier to tune then aftermarket. so look more at the cams you have then the compression you have to tune the car. but tuning cam timing, can help with piston to valve clearance and other factors in high compression motors.
You really won't have to worry about it too much, you have a FPR, right? You'll need to bump the fuel pressure up a bit, but other than that, valve clearances will be fine. I ran 13:1 compression with no piston slap ever. That was a B18A1 w/ Civic R pistons and a GS-R head. The cam timing and fuel tuning will need to be done on a dyno with the Dyno's wideband O2 sensor and a V-AFC or comprible. What cams are you going to have in the motor? The tuning will be the same as if you were using any other block w/ engine modifications.
