2006nCivic & Sybthetic Fluid Recomendations
Hello,
06 Civic LX Auto planning on changing all fluids to SYNTHETIC!
Hello,
I purchased a new Civic and am considering changing the engine oil, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid to synthetics. I am considering Royal Purple motor oil due to the additive “Synerlec”. My cousin use to race a Funny car back in the 80’s (Flash Gordon) and highly recommends this oil due to this additive since he used a formulation of this in his Hemi engine. They also make a 5W20, so I would have the factory recommended viscosity. Lastly, according to an article I read in 11/05 issue of Modified Mag this oil is supposed to micro-polish bearings (though I am unsure on how this task is accomplished).
I currently have 1200 miles on this vehicle. I changed the oil (5w20 Castrol GTX – purchased a case on sale for $18 - $5 rebate as a gas station gift card = $13) at 400 miles and at 1100 miles. I plan to change the oil one more time at say 1600 miles to use up the remaining dino oil. Then at 2000 miles change the oil to a synthetic.
As far as the transmission fluid and power steering fluid go, I have not looked into whether or not a company manufactures a compatible synthetic product for these fluids. Does anyone know if the Honda fluids are synthetic, semi-synthetic, or dino?
Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated in this matter?
