WTF?! Are you desperate or something?
Good luck man. Looks like nearly all of us are selling out.

Not desperate, just a realistic view. In fact only 25% depreciation in 2 years is actually very good ($24K vs. $18K). However I feel the car is worth $19K at least, so if anyone is interested please e-mail me through the ebay qustions to seller.
Some of the guys in the NYC area are aware of the great shape of my car.

good luck on selling, how come your getting rid of it?
This is a great opportunity for those of you who want to get into a Type R (or for most of you have a spare one
)p.s. Free AutoX instruction included with the pruchase
(if you live in the NYC Area)
actually, 24k + taxes and all, look around 27k. so your selling your car at 3/5rds the price....not so good.
Maybe you can be my accountant?

Yeah - can I sell my income taxes as well?! I'll package the deal w/some sales tax, property tax, and lots of capital gains tax too!
I see what fuzznutz is saying. If you sell your R for $17k or whatever...more power to you. I just think it's most likely worth a helluva lot more. My PY ITR has 10k and I wouldn't take less than $20k.
LOL out of all seriousness why sell your car for 17k when you can just leave it out on the streets for a couple of nights and wait for it to get stolen? easy 20k check cut to you in 3 months. just a thought.....just a thought...
...
. Insurance is there for those who really have the mishap of true theft...and not so much "hi steal my car please" kind of thing

My out of the door price for mine with AC in '98 was $25,000 exactly .....
I sold it after two years, 35,000 miles, modded, and god knows how many passes down the 1/4 for $19,500 ...... THAT'S good depreciation.

Tom (fuzznuts),
Think of it this way. In this economy, Carlos may have to wait a year to sell his car at a decent price. But within the year the car depreciates more, he is making more payments, double the expenses of a garage in Manhattan (upto $500/month for each car !!) etc. etc. So selling at around 18K is a little low but not bad at all, considering the condition of the car and the condition of the economy. I know Carlos, he is a very smart and a very very very successful businessman, I think he knows what he is doing. Sometimes you have to cut your losses to make a deal.
Whooever gets his car is getting a nice example of an ITR.

Dave ~ I understand your "buyer will only pay what he/she thinks the car is worth" concept, but if an ITR has low miles (such as mine and this one) I can't see why he can't get $20k easily. It's not a GSR here. Not trying to sound like an elitist ***** or anything, but the ITR is quite rare. Not to mention all the theft/wrecked/totalled out ones only makes them more rare.
My guess is that 90% of ITR owners paid MSRP (nearly $25k at the time). I cannot see why he shouldn't be able to get $20k easily.
Oh and for the record, if my car was only worth $5k on paper (KBB or market demand) you can bet I would never dream of selling mine. I'd burn it to the ground before I sold it for $5k.

I agree with all of you guys that think that the Type R is a keeper for less than $20K, an specially one like mine that has very low mileage and is not used on a daily basis. However, as David pointed out, from the car's value I should subtract what it costs me just to keep the car without even driving it (insurance + parking + registration). With that cost for the next 18 months + what I get from the car now, if just decently invested over that period, I think I would be able to afford the next Type R,or a barely used S2000 for AutoX/Track only 9assuming that by then I have some extra storage/parking space)
For the insurance "arbitrageurs" I suggest that you rethink you strategy as I assume you will be asuccesful and as time goes by you will buy more expensive cars and I bet is that you will end up paying more in insurance premiums (b/c of the "incident") than the "extra margin" you made on the stolen R.
Additionally for those of you who think it's certainly worth $20K just let me know wher to send the wire instructions
just kidding cheers! and hope to be back on an Honda sooner than later

i see R sit in the paper in dallas for weeks trying to sell at 19K..
I admit though this one appears to be a great deal..
most guys here are mad because they think thier cars are made out of titanium and 24K gold..

I'm not mad about anything...nor do I think my car is made of gold. I just wouldn't sell MINE for less than $20k. That's just me though.

i agree. keeping a R in new york city is pretty expensive. insurance for 18 mo, parking spacing/garaging is atleast 3-4k so i mean, keeping the car when your not going to use it much is a waste of assets.

Wow, $17k?!
That kind of price throws up a red flag or two.
But then again if it is beat up more than advertised I guess you can spend $3k and still come out on top.
Maybe this guy just isn`t up on the current market value and is just stuck with some 2001 blue book guide?
I would think anyone could sell their R anywhere in the country for $20k and have a buyer in a day.
Edit: A NICE R.

-Dave, who refused to buy a 97R for 16K 6 months ago cause it simple wasn't worth that much to me... I would have paid 13k though.
