Default air conditioning defrost help

How do you stop the air conditioning from coming on when you turn the defrost on. I know there is a way but I don't know how to turn it off. I know cars that are sold in colder climates have this already done. help

It's been so long since I did it I had to go look it up.

Take the key out of the ignition.
Hold down the recirculate and AC buttons at the same time
Make sure you can see the light on the AC button
While holding the buttons, start the car
Wait for the AC light to flash
Release the buttons
Off you go

NOTE: This is the procedure for the USDM EP3 Si. I have not tried it with any other car.

I didnt know they came with the A/C pre-set to come on with the defrost. Why do you not want it on with the defrost, I always turn mine on, it really helps clear the windows.

Yes, it does. You don't always need the windows cleared just because you want air blowing against the windscreen, though.

There's also a sizeable minority of people who just do not want choices removed from them.

Thank You so much.....

I always wanted to be able to turn the AC off but i didn't think it would be as turning off your "maintinence req." light off.
