ecu problems maybe? HELP!!!
I have a 99 ex coupe with a obd2 ls motor, its converted to obd1 on a p75 ecu. I was selling the car and having afew things fixed on it before i sold it. One of those was fixing an exhaust leak. The exhaust was welded on and "fixed". So as soon as im leaving the shop the car starts freaking out, the speedometer isnt working, next goes my radar detector, then my radio, then my tach. Now nothign is working and the car is bogging and dies. I figured it was the alternator and battery because that same thign has happened to me before and that was the problem. I found out my battery has been drained and is no good, im positive its the alternator now. I pull the alternator, have it tested and it was fine. the car has been in and out of the shop now for the past few days and it dies about an hour and a half after i get it back each time. I dont knwo what to do. A friend of mine's dad told me that when the car was welded on that if the battery wasn't disconnected that it could have messed up my ecu. Is that true? Could welding on the car without disconnecting the battery mess up anytihng elctrical on the car? Please any help is welcome and needed! thanks!
no welding on a car without disconnecting the battery wont hurt anything.
unless you clamp the electrode to the positive battery terminal, i guess that would **** up the alternator something fierce.
there is really no way to accidentally mess up the electronics on your honda because everything has fuses.
you're probably looking at a bad main relay, or even just a blown fuse somewhere. Have the main relay checked, and dont worry about your ECU from the welding.
also when your exhaust was "welded on" what do you mean, what parts were welded togeather, there's like 2342523 possibilities as to what that could mean.
