axle nut horror
Well after about 2 hours of working on it today after my full time 8 hour job
the damn nut will still not come off. I have tried impact gun with 120 psi, i have tried a breaker bar, rachet with pipe, heating it up for 15 minute intervals.
Problem being that i broke a piece of a phillips head screw driver in the parallel shaft.
so i then got mad and broke out a chisel and started hammering away and still have not gotten this damn thing off. I wish my car was not on its last leg cause i would of brought it to a shop and have them remove this damn nut.
This is what it looks like now!!!

Anyone else have any ideas on how i can remove this nut?
Should I just keep chisiling away at the bolt till I break it off and replace
with a new one?

It looks like you can get a socket on, if thats the case drive it to a shop and have them take it off for you...I would imagine they would do it for free.
If that is not an option try using a die grinder with a cut off wheel, cut the but down the center as far as you can and hit it with a chisel bit with the air hammer. It will crack in half. hack way to do it but your in a bind

had this same problem just a while ago. tryed heat, and impact gun and breaker bar and had no luck. i used a box end 32mm wrench, my buddy sat im the car holding the breaks, and i beat the wrench with a heavy hammer, worked for me. they need a hard shock load to break them free. try to find a box end wrench to fit over that mess of a nut u have, make someone hold the breaks in the car and try beating it with a hammer, it should work. if u can find a wrench.. good luck

rotor is turning... I did have someone pressing on the break but rotor still turns. Is there anyway to lock the rotor?

Not an option cause the engine is already out of car. I guess i will just chisel my way till i crack it in half. Should i just keep chiseling down the parallel shaft?

I doubt that I will find a 32 MM wrench but i will go looking for one.
Do you think it will work with a socket & rachet? I do have a pretty decent
sledge that I could work with...

when stuff like that happens I smoke a square and chill. then try it again, with a chill mode approach. if it still dont work, i smoke another square and chill again with another chill mode approach. Then if it still dont work. I calla friend or two and let them try it. Usually this option works cause from the time I tried to the last person, the nut usually give in and will turn or due to all that damn stress it'll break off. holla back. you can put this on your favorites.

get some type of cutter tool ( even dremel would work ) and cut that bitch off. And go to a junk yard or a shop and see if they can get one for you off the old cars or whatever. Hell order one if u want
to remove the axle nut you're suppose to lift the car off the ground, take off your wheel, pry the dent out, put the wheel back on, lower the car back on to the ground, and then breaker bar that bitch...works everytime
I had problems with my weak compressor and impact gun at home trying to remove my axle nut. I borrowed a 32mm deep impact socket and stuck it on my breaker bar. I but the bar on the nut and stood on the bar bouncing up and down and it broke free after about the third bounce. The easiest way to remove these is with the car on the ground, and someone inside with the brake on.

try cutting the axle nut with a dremel.. just cut it and be careful not to ruin the threads.... then get something sharp like a screwdriver and use it as a chisel to open up the nut and remove it

u can leave the car on the jack stand and put a flathead screwdriver through the top(or in front ) of the caliper into the brake rotor slots and that will lock the rotor in place. add the extinsion on the breaker bar for leverage then your 90lbs girlfriend should be able to break it free if you can still get a socket on it.
Never use a screwdriver...always use a punch.
Ive had to use heat on a few axle nuts to get them off. People underestimate how much heating something up helps break it loose. I would tell you to try and get the screwdriver piece out, and then heat it up red hot, throw the wheel back on, let the car down, and use a breaker bar with a good extender on it for leverage

i had a similar experience, we were working on it at some kids house who's dad was a machinist. He just used a chisel to cut it in half.
Stop letting that nut win! keep the rotor from turning by putting something b/w the studs and bracing it on the ground....spray it with penetrating lube.....then try again.....if that doesn't work try an air hammer. If that doesn't work cut it with the chisel.

remove wheel
remove brakes
remove spindle
pull outer joint off
take to semi shop and have them gun it off
one of the last options or have someone torch it out or just get a new axle and spindle they arn't that much
