hey i was thinking about the h22 swap in my 89 lude. I am not sure if any of you have done it before but i was wonderig how difficult and costly it is to do.

I don't think they make engine mounts for the 3rd Gen's anymore.

i have seen it done before but i wasnt thinkng at the time on asking him how hard it was but it improves like 3 and a half seconds in 1/4 mile i am a mecanic so shop work is no prob.

If I understood you correctly, yes, it will improve your 1/4 times significantly since the 3rd gen chassis is significantly lighter.

I know that it is a custom swap. It's more difficult because there are few companies that make kits to make the swap easier.

Beyond that, you will want to register on http://www.preludepower.com and ask them (mostly 3rd gen owners) what else is needed.

thanks dude. A couple weeks ago i raced a cavalier riced up and almost lost i decided right then and there that i need to do something to make my car faster at the current time i run 16.5 in the 1/4 mile but with this engine i can run 13.5 which is vetry impressive. Thanks for your advise though.

HAHAHAHA. I know how you feel, man.

You might want to look into seeing if the B18 motors can be swapped in too. Theya re not a bad choice for 3rd gens. I don't know if anyone has done it though.

13.5 out of an h22 is going to take 2100 lbs even and every bolton you can get.

what is your weight?

ya my lude comes stock 2100lbs and i have removed every posssible thing from engine compartment and i have no interior. eg a/c compressor , condensor, cruise control. the interior is gone except dash and front seats.

good tires, good driving, flywheel, balance shaft removal, crank pulley, intake and exhaust will get you a 13.5
