Due to the lower temperatures now a days, I figure I wont be using my AC too much, at least till spring time. I figure if I remove the AC belt from its pulleys, it will put less strain and slightly boost the performance on my engine.
Am I correct or incorrect with my thoughts on removing the AC belt? If I do that, will I be damaging any of the components in the AC system from issues regarding the belt being removed??? Anyone with info or experience is appreciated.

So removing the AC belt is pointless? Or could I benefit from it enough to take it ofF?

you wont damage anything by taking the belt off.
performance increase would be negligible imo. the slightly noticeable gains would be from weight reduction - if you took the compressor and connecting components out imo.

So the resistance applied to the crankshaft pulley from the AC belt is close to nothing?

The A/C compressor pulley uses a clutch system so that the compressor only works (and puts a load on the engine) when the A/C is turned on. When off, the A/C compressor pulley puts no more load on the engine than does the free-spinning A/C tensioner pulley.
I would not take the belt off, as there are many times in winter where I need the A/C (blowing warm conditioned air) to clear my windshield.
Removing the power steering belt would make more of a difference in freeing up engine power than would removing the A/C belt. However steering will be extremely heavy and a PITA unless you rig up one of those P/S removal kits that a couple of H-T members sell.

AC Condenser
AC Compressor
AC Belt
Dryer + connecting lines running down and across the front bumper area, in front of the condenser
AC Lines running in the engine bay, starting with Line A at the compressor.
Once disconnected from the Evaporator (Underneath the dash), either plug the hole with the Integra RS rubber plug that goes in place of the ac lines, or go all out and get the Integra RS evap. box and heater box to convert it to the no AC interga RS style.

Agreed...the question is more staged than anything. I'm actually trying to prove a point to someone who had told me removing the AC belt made a "Night and Day" difference. Thanks everyone, again.
