White Smoke after T-belt/Water Pump Change...not present before?
Hi all.
I just sprung my car (90 LX, stock F22a1) from the shop last night after having my timing belt/balancer belt/water pump/accessory belts replaced. They said that my water pump was leaky and turned my coolant to coffee-esqe looking. Its been like that for awhile, but I never had the time to get around to changing it, but my temp gauge was never showing anything either.
I get into the car and I notice its blowing a lot of smoke. Granted its cold here so I assumed that it was just steam...however when I was holding it at cold idle speed (~1500 rpm) at a light, I looked like I had a car from a James Bond movie. This really worried me so I pulled over and I could smell coolant burning. Not good, I know. I rode it for about 20 miles on the highyway, temp gauge read normal, car ran relatively the same, even in the upper rpm range (4.5-5.5K).
Now my question lies in the timing of all this. My car never blew ANY smoke at all before I dropped it off at the shop. I could hold it bouncing off the rev limiter and I didn't see anything. Why is it now blowing white smoke, and is it anything I should be worrying about?
My car runs normal, the temp gauge reads normal, it comes up to operating temp fine, etc, etc.

Also to add...
I checked my coolant once I got home and the car cooled off. It was still green. Also I'm about 2000 miles into my oil, and its normal colored. I'm not seeing any evidence of HG issues in that at least. I have noticed a bit more oil consumption, but I'm assuming that's due to a minor leak, as well as the age of the car.
My question basically is...will the smoke eventually go away, and will this motor last me another 6-8 months (I don't put much mileage on the car at present), because I'm looking to swap in the future.

I think ususally a leaking water pump just drips coolant out and does not contaminate the oil. Pumps have a weep hole and you end up with a puddle on the ground ? Maybe I'm wrong. It does sound like a head gasket leak.
What does your mechanic say ?
