I have Pilot amber projector fogs, and they are pretty pointless actually w/ my HID retrofit. With stock halogen I'm sure it would improve short-range visibility and out to the sides of the car, but my Hella bi-xenon projectors pretty much drown out the foglights' beam pattern completely, i.e. the fogs don't put any light anywhere that the HID projectors don't already.

how are they pointless?

They help visibility in the fog and also rain. Example when driving at night while its raining, its hard to see the white lines. Yellow fog lights give you better visibility. Do I need to preach some of my learning from my chemistry class about the color spectrum?
