need yall's opinions
Backstory- I had the car put in the shop to be put back in time, ole dude put the wrong belt on and the car jumped time sending a valve through piston #3. So I now need a new motor. Since I'm not made of funds I want to put another d motor in. What in yall's opinion is the best D motor that just drops right into a 94 cx hatch? Thanks
I would run with a d16z6. You will have to wire in vtec. But, IMO, it's worth it. Plus, the z6, like your cx, is obd1 so you don't have anything to worry about on that end. I am unsure if you will have to swap ecu's or not. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find out. I'm just lazy. While the motor is out though, take this chance to inspect/replace your clutch and throw out bearing and so forth.

lol he blows your engine the first time now your giving him another chance... he owes you a new engine plus the work the put it in. but if you want to spend more money and have him do the work good luck to him, for being able to convince you.

I don't really think that it is a "mother" to put in. Unless making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is what you would consider a "mother". Not trying to be a dick. But, I'm ecu dumb, and it was fairly simple for me.

hmmm... 3 plugs... if thats hard then i dont think you should be around cars... wiring the vtec and o2 up is a little more difficult but still not hard in my book... its pretty straightforward... i suggest you get an ex/si engine harness with a 4 wire o2... this will plug up directly to your chassis harness... then all you have to do from there is add the necessary wires on the ecu side of the harness

like these guys said the Z6 will be the easiest/most potent swap.
you might want to look into a JDM D15b, usually can get them real reasonable and probably be lower mileage than most Z6's you will find. it is also OBD1 so plug and play.
if your CX is a 92 it will have vtec wired to the shock tower. you can also retain your 1-wire O2 if you use a JDM p08 ecu
