Default 88-00 fuel rails all the same?

I am looking into buying an aftermarket fuel rail and I was just wondering that if I am using the y8 intake manifold on my z6 head I would need to buy the 96-00 fuel rail. but are they different at all, other than the position of the fuel regulator? would I even need an aftermarket fuel rail for 440 or 450 injectors on 17 to 25 lbs. of boost?

Not sure on the 88-91 but the 92-95 and 96-00 rails are different..

The differences are between generations. I know that the space between the mounting points and locations of Fuel Pressure Regulators vary.
