Default Harness Choices? Takata Or Crow Enterprizes?

Which Harness would you pick and why?

I need TWO 3" camlock style harnesses.

Any other suggestions for 3" camlock harnesses around the 150 ish range?

Thanks In Advance..

The new sparco belts are FIA certified and made by schroth now - I've been happy with mine.

I have a set of Crows and they work perfect! What is especially nice is that Crow will reweb them for something like $60 when the SFI tags are out of date... being that they are about 10 min from me makes it extremely nice

I run the G-Force pro series belts. They're on the cheaper end of the market, but work just fine for me. I find that they are uncomfortable without harness pads though. I picked mine up from http://www.racerwholesale.com for around $150.

Edit: fixed website

Yeah, Takata = $$$$$$ I like my Schroth belts, and plan on sticking with them. Edit: though new Schroths aren't $150 either...

I really like my padded 6 point Ultrashield harness. I'd prefer a TeamTech RamPac, but it's over double the price!!

I ride around in, and drive, a lot of different cars. The best harnesses I've used have been...(all camlock BTW...)

- Autopower. Their camlock just works so well - easy to engage, easy to release, and no "stick" on the end of the dial to get caught up on a belt or a suit and disengage prematurely. Very positive engagement. Really impressed with them.

- Schroth 6-point harness. Again, the cam worked well, as did the adjusters for the belt tightness. It's hard to quantify, they just worked really well.

- Whatever Scott (user "Catch 22") had in his ITC car worked beautifully. I think they may have been G Force units, maybe he'll come on here and correct me if I'm wrong.

Stuff that looks good to me that I have not actually worn include the
already-mentioned Ultrashield, as well as Impact Racing.

I'll get on one of my more familiar soapboxes...when shopping for driver and safety gear, if you can afford it, get The Good Stuff. From my experience it is usually way superior to the house-brand warehouse type stuff in comfort, design, functionality and materials.

Website seems to be broken tonight (for me anyway). Smallish company just starting up and getting recognition. As a recent customer (search for my name for the recent helmet thread) I'm actually glad they're spending their time on product R&D instead of flashy websites.

BTW, I **hate** latch and links with a passion. Once you've gone camlock, latch and link seems arcane.

Another BTW - I think a rewebbing service is actually pretty common. I know years ago when I ordered my original TRW/Sabelts, there was a rewebbing service available for well under a hundred dollars.

Your first priority should be to have a polyester belt, after that its all personal preference. The Schroth/new Sparco as well as the Simpson Platinum Series are poly. You want this because it is nearly impervious to oil, gas etc. virtually everything that would be spilled or wiped on something inadvertently in a car.
Cam-locks are certainly the way to go. If you want to feel old-school go for the latch link setup.

For a real deal straight story on safety comtact the folks at http://www.hmsmotorsport.com Not saying that others don't know anything but Joe and the guys there have probably done as much work on this as anyone. They really don't care what is in your car as long as it is installed properly and functions properly in an impact.

So pretty much get the new sparco belts made by schroth ? Why not just schroth belts instead of the sparco ones?

I was looking into willans, but they seen to be as expensive as takatas..

Before I bought my Sparco Harness, I googled the hell out of Schroth to find very few hits. In my research, I found the same thing that everyone is saying that Sparco belts are made by Schroth and the price was right. The camlocks work very well and the belts are easy to tighten (no binding).

Let me clarify about Sparco belts. The belts are made by Scroth, but all the hardware are still Sparco Hardwares.

I used them both and like them both. But the adjusters are slightly better in Scroth.

That being said, the best adjusters I've ever encounter is the aluminum option on Willans and Sabelt.

I had/have a crow harness, it worked fine, and functioned prefect. I needed to by a new harness so that i had two, so i wanted to by a new one for the driver side (me). So i searched around, and found cuprie(sp) motorpsorts selling a Willians harness for a great price, so i picked it up for around 200 shipped, this is the one with the bling bling aluminum option. Everything about these belts are kick but, the adjusters are awesome and very nice to use, tighten really easy, and the cam lock works awesome. for the price i got the willians for they are more then worth it IMO.

Are takata's even legal for racing? For $400 a set they better be, but I don't think they are.....

They have an FIA cert, so id say but i have had takata's and willans and the sad thing is that the 400 takatas are no where near the quality of the willans.
