Default enough space to do this.

is there enough space under the chasis of the 4th gen to put the muffler futher in the front and run piping like this?

Could you put the muffler right after the cat? Would that be good for the muffler?

the owner of the car is on this site, hopefully he doesn't mind me using his pic, if so I will take down.

I just don't like the look of the muffler hanging down on my 4th gen.. i think it would look alot better.

i don't think there's alot of room in the tunnel to use any muffler that's oval shaped, and definitely not enough room for the OEM muffler to be in any position other than the one it's in. Using a round magnaflow you could probably get one to fit (and you'd probably have to lengthen the hangers too), but the potential issues that will arise from this probably make it not worthwhile.

they're not huge issues, ones that will break things on the car, but ones that 'll be a headache to solve.

i'd just paint the muffler flat black to make it less visible.

or you can have ur own muffler made thats smaller like just a small expansion chamber about 6 inches in diameter and ten inches long. its not loud and has a good sound. plus it doenst look big and is easy to hide. that was for a 3 inch exhaust by the way so u could go smalelr will smaller pipe. I.e. 21/2 = 5 inches in diamter 10 long. catch my drift the larger it is the quiter it is .
