Maybe?
You might want to reread your post and rewrite it to include information like:
Car type
Class
Current Car Setup
Type of tires you are currently using
Type of tires you plan on using
Type/size/weight of wheels you are currently using
Type/size/weight of wheels you plan on trading for
etc.
Just tring to help the newbs

Kinda short and fat huh? In my experience the ladies like the deeper penetration more than the girth, but... Well, if your lady is OK with it I guess its all good.

I think if you want an answer to a question you need to ask a question that can be comprehended by the askees.

OH! OMNI coilovers! Planning on doing any HPDEs?
You need to pick the tire you will run BEFORE you decide on a wheel diameter.

16s will hurt your times. Look at national champion cars. They use the smallest, lightest wheel they can find that accomodates the best tire for the class. For street prepared, that usually means 13" wheels with Hoosier-Daddies. For STS, that usually means a 15X7 with Azenis.

Quite a few top STS cars were on 16x7.5s this year.

Notice I said "usually". It looks to me that the STS and STS2 class winners were still using 15" wheels (according to the photos in Sportscar). And uber-expensive SSRs at that....

j00 are right but personally i think it takes years of seat time for wheel weight/diameter differences to bear themselves out at an auto-x so to the original poster, believe us when we say "run what you brung."
seriously, the most important thing is getting experience and improving your driving. every dollar you are spending on mods can be spent on entry fees. i know that's not the fun answer but yeah.
anyway, more than wheel diameter, i think wheel width is more important.

Well, here comes the tangent again, but what the hell.
Car and setup are important to be sure, but if you are relatively new there is zero substitute for seat time. Driver skill and experience means ALOT in Autocross, a helluva lot more than wheel size.
Don't believe me?
Earlier this year Renee and I beat a Skyline GTR. Were were in a mildly prepped 140K mile STS Neon on Falkens, he had 500 horsepower and was on the fattest Hoosiers I've ever seen. We are experienced drivers, he's a Best Motoring dorift0 wannabe.
Neon 2. Skyline 0.
There is absolutely zero reason for an STS Neon to beat a Skyline on Hoosiers... Except the drivers.
Go get seat time.
And if english is your first language, learn how to speel and wrote bettur. Pleeze.

The only reason why people don't run 16" and 17" tires on a Honda is because there are no ~23" - 23.6" tires to use on them.
If Falken made a 225/40/16 or a 225/35/17 for the ST crowd, you can bet folks would be on that tire. Or if Hoosier decided to make a 235/40/16, same thing would apply.
But the only tires you can get in a ~23" height are 14 or 15" tires.
It not so much that 14" and 15" wheels are faster as it is the lack of tire support for larger sizes.

I will counter that by saying that if Falken made a 225/45/13 Azenis I'm betting EVERY top STS Civic would be on them.
Less weight and better gearing...
But there are alot of "ifs" in the last 2 posts.

Yes, a tire that wide and short would be quite popular with STS. But outside of autoxers, who the hell is going to buy such a tire? That's why you'll never see one in a street compound.
Given 2 tires, one a 23.4" 15" tire and a 23.4" 16" tire, I'll take the 16" version all day long...especially in a street tire where the sidewalls aren't anything remotely close to being as stiff as a real R compound.

True.
But you threw out hypothetical tire sizes, so I did the same thing.

Yeah, but my post's point was the reason why no one ran 16" and 17" rims. No tires existed for the larger rims. 15" is about the only ballgame in town for a good width/height ratio.
And only the older Civics can make use of the tiny and wide tires.
I guess the moral of the story is to buy rims for the tire that you want to run (tire that provides the best gearing/contact patch).

I am running these Team Dynamics 14x7's. They don't break the bank too bad and will clear the calipers on my integra with ease.

Wheels on my car with 195 60R 14 Azenis. Not the widest tire, but i'm in college so i don't have a fortune to spend on tires.

My .02 cents, take it or leave it.
