Probably Dumb Question
I know that I'm not in the right topic really to post this but I will anyway. I have an '03 Civic with 45K on the odometer. I just moved from Dallas, Texas to New York this summer so this car has never seen any temps lower than 30 and my engine light just went on
My manual says that it may just be emissions? My problem is my transimission feels really funky, it feels like it is having trouble especially shifting from 1st to 2nd and shifts up at about 3 1/2 rpm. Is this normal? Especially taking the cold weather into consideration? Or is it possible that I just need to change my air filter?
I'd appreciate any input, as I'm not much of a car person. THanks!

Take into account that in moving to an area thats significantly cooler than where you were fluid weights change, ie in texas they probably use 10w-40 engine oil, in NY 5w-30 would be a more approiate choice

there is never a stupid question except when you are too arrogant to ask and then wonder later why something that you know nothing about broke cause you didn't want to ask

Good points? where cause I must have missed them, he only had one thought that made sense and that was everything thinking there experts, ohhh and Im a ASE and honda certified tech but you don't see me blabbing that around trying to impress people do you? I just help people and not turn it into a d*** measuring contest with the patches on my arm or my certifications hanging on the wall. Ohh and just cause one is certified doesn't mean they know what there talking about either. End of debate.
you need to find out what the check engine light is first and then the problem at hand can be solved. but if you feel more comfortable at the dealer do so. i work for a local dealership so can help if you can provide what the light is

That link isn't unjust, however. It is just funny.

Most of the time but not every time a noob gets flamed its because they don't search and ask such ridiculously easy questions that have been covered before so many times and are on the main page half the time. Now this isn't always the case but most of the time it is. And if someone flames them and its a good question other members usually tell the guy to back off. but once again this isn't kinder garden and most people on here need to grow up some but since there probably all still in Hs it might be asking a bit much.

I agree that the flaming is necessary on some situations. Case and point, check the thread I linked on my last post.

Your sarcasm (bolded part) will get you flamed. I do agree with the underlined part. However, considering your post count and your join date, regardless of how much you know, you are still a noob here. Noobs being smart-asses is like putting a target on your forehead and saying "shoot me". You will probably find someone with an itchy trigger finger.
