EF JDM Sohc ZC Swap W/Si Tranny After Swap weird Axle noise passenger SIde !!!!
Hi,
After we finished up all the wiring and took the car for its intial test drive we noticed a couple things. Car was extremely gutless, I mean, don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a 11 second car, but this is slower then my friends geo metro.
The second thing we noticed is a loud grinding noise from the passenger side axle/hub or Tranny. The weird thing is the noise is intermediate, its not a constant thing. We put it up on jack stands and put it in gear and it doesn't make the noise. When I hit the brake though it made the grinding noise and the transmission would move??? I don't really get it but it looked like the tranny/engine would be jumping or when we would brake.
Things you should know, Clutch we used is old, it has 8months left maybe, flywheel was fine, brand new tob someone else installed, didn't change pilot bearing. We also ran out of honda MTF when we were refilling the tranny so we used 1 qt of regular motor oil??? That shouldn't effect it I wouldn't think??
As for the sluggish engine, sparkies are good, wires good, dizzy good, no codes, but it is the HF ECU as opposed to the zc or si so maybe thats why???
Any help would be appreciated I'm racking my brain on this one.

Our trannies take regular motor oil.
As for the HF ecu, I would imagine that it would have alot to do with it. I suggest getting a pm6 or something and seeing what it does.
Make sure your mounts aren't completely busted-*** and that they're tight.
¿Also, what transmission are you using?

doesnt the HF ecu redline at 5000 rpm???lol.lol.....get a pm6 or a pg7 that hf ecu was only programmed to run lik 68 horsepower
I figured the reason was because of the hf ecu. The transmission is from an Si as it states in the title. The grinding sound is whats really bothering me, a lot more then the sluggishness of the engine. Anyone have any ideas? The axles are both all the way in, I checked them by hand...I'm stumped

AND I don't notice any power until 5500-7200 RPM. THAT would be why your car is slower than a geo.

hey i did the same swap mine is fast as hell, i used si axels and used the pm6 ecu it makes a big *** differance, red line on it is about 7800rpm, if u put in the ex intake manifold like im about to its like the type r manifold for sohc, anyways just some suggestions
