Default Search down like always but overheating issues.....

The other day i noticed that my car was over heating on the gauge so i immediately pulled over turned it off.....everything looked fine no leaks, but the lower rad hose was cold, top one warm. so with this, i went to napa and bought a 97 vtec thermostat and new seal. (jdm h22) i put it in just like the old one came out, spring heading towards motor. i really only drive my car to and from work, 5 min drive. today it over heated again....could it be a bad thermostat or bad installation. Also ever since i sea foamed my car it idles at like 2k rpms....... sorry if its long thought if yall got the whole gyst youd understand better

Water pump!!!

To find out take the thermostat out and let the car idle! If it is still overheating and the fan is turning on then it is likely your water pump!

oh wow what a surprise another seafoam motor has problems.....

what did i say, that that crap ruins seals and o rings....and nobody will listen.....because user jdmidi0t and all his trendy friendlies used it and s00per cool clouds of smoke and made themselves feel like the motor ran better.....

DONT USE THAT ****!!!!!!!!!!! your motor now has a vacuum leak somewhere and good luck finding it.....

This was going to be my suggestion too.

I used Seafoam. It didn't affect my car's performance at all though.

Change the timing belt and replace the auto tensioner with the H23 manual timing belt tensioner.

Are you still on your original water pump and timing belt?

Even if the fans aren't coming on it should not over heat. My fans don't come on. Only if I am sitting it traffic for a longtime. Daily driving I NEVER hear them come on.

If you car is overheating while driving it normally, there is a major problem. Most likely the water pump.

i had over heating problems a few months ago. i got a new waterpump done, but needed new thermostat, and then had a leak in radiator. got everything fixed and ran ok, till it over heated again with no visible leaks. i took it to honda and they said it was a "pin hole" in a hose. fixed that, and finally it didn't over heat again.

I agree that mine dont come on ever either, but I have a Aluminum Radiator. When I was running my stock F22 rad. (it was wore out) it did get hot but never overheated. But my FAN WORKS!!

If his radiator is shitty and his fans aren't working it may not be a W.P.

It is possible I believe. Correct me if I am wrong!!

When your car overheats, did you check to see if both radiator hoses are hot?

I wouldn't let it overheat anymore. It's killing the life of your engine.

That could be true too. If I were him (and he said he is going to do this anyway) but I would take out the radiator, fans, and hoses. I would make sure water flows through the radiator when it is out of the car. Then I would go from there.

It could be your head gasket and that would explain your idle problem

re bleed the coolant as well... my girl friends EG had a air bubble in the coolant system and it cause some crazy *** idle. and overheated constantly... rebled it.. and it was all fine.... This would be your most simple.. cost free soloution... its worth a try before buying a waterpump and all the labor.. my .02
