I tried the search button but it said search sever temporarily down.

I need to re-weld my firewall into my car. I notice that they sale 2 mig welders one that uses just electric and 1 that uses gas and electric. What amp welder should I get for it also.

Not doing any big job's besides the firewall conversion on my car.

Thanks

If you want it done cleanly.. Use gas + electric.
If you dont mind grinding.. a flux core would work.

some people told me that the 90amp electric won't be good enough to weld the firewall back into place? That I would need to use electric and gas?

The 90 amp welder will work fine for that firewall sheet metal like Formula mentioned. The problem is when you want to paint over the welded area on the firewall or any where else on the vehicle. A gasless flux core welder leaves a flux deposit on the weld when you are done. You have to chip or grind it off. If you don't clean the weld of all the flux then there is a chance it will come up through the paint eventually. A welder using gas (MIG) makes a clean weld with no flux to come up and screw up your paint later. The advantage with flux core is portability (No gas bottle to lug around) and you can use it outside on a windy day.

hi just a thought after reading your post
why dont you just borrow someones mig??, cause your saying your only gonna use it for the firewall, so to fork out x amount of money(i dont know what welders cost in america but in nz theyre pretty expensive for a one of job) for a welder for one job seems a tad silly, unless of course your f****** rich lol
either way good luck with the job
