search is down, need help!
like the title says, I tried to search already and it's down :\
anyways, I have a front-lower tie bar on my eg hatch that needs to come off. the problem is that the bolt/nut [not sure which] on the driver side that goes through the bar and the control arm and into the chasis is stripped. the weld-nut that the bolt goes through is INSIDE the chasis, and I have no idea how to get at it. even if I could get at it, how would I get the old nut out? maybe I could re-tap the nut and salvage it, but I can't get the f#@$%^* bolt out! anyone else have this problem? what did you do? I know if I take this to a shop they're going to butt-rape me, someone help!!

bolt out? like an easy-out or what?
edit: yes, sort of like an easy out. for those clueless like me: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...=TOOL
but no, I have not tried anything like that as I do not have access
I don't think it would do much good anyway, as it is the bolt just spins in the nut and goes nowhere. I really think I'm f00ked here

So you can turn the bolt, but the weld nut on the inside is turning with it so that the bolt won't come out??
If that's the case then you are pretty well f00ked. It would take drilling, cutting, and welding to get the bolt out, possible but not fun.

the weld nut is not turning with it. the threads on the bolt and nut are destroyed, so the bolt just spins. there are some threads at the end of the bolt that is through the nut, so I can't just pull the bolt out. in talking to a couple buddies, I think the only option is to cut the weld-nut out and get a new one in there. is it safe to, say, use a hole-saw to open up the subframe so I can get that nut out? if anyone else has anything to add, please do!
