Cannister on back of Block leaking and smoking
Smoke is coming from this black box or cannister from the the back of the block. it is also leaking oil there. can it be removed and plugged???
thats the oil separator that goes to the PCV valve.
cant say the smoke is normal, its usually supposed to be sealed. buttheres really only a oring that seals that hole.
you could seal it if you wanted with a freeze plug and rely on blowby exiting out through the valve cover hose.
but see if just putting a new oring in there will reseal it.

eh? its just a box with a few baffles... any liquid in it will drain back into the engine.
just replace the o ring...
