mods, if this belongs in appearance/cosmetic then please feel free to move... i've seen some similar threads here so i thought i'd try it here.
History:
I bought this car for like $150 with no front sheetmetal (previous owner put it on a crx that his girlfriend wrecked). that's no sweat though, 'cause I have an ef9 front end ready for it. It had the stock d16a6 in it which I stupidly parted out and sold in anticipation of a b17a swap, but I then sold that swap to a friend.
picked up another d16a6 longblock locally for $30 (yes, thirty dollars) and sourced a transmission, axles, etc... for cheap also. completely re-built the motor from the ground up, including a hot-tank and hone of the block, hot-tank of the head, new EVERYTHING (OEM rings, main bearings, rod bearings, main seal, crank seal, valve stem seals, head gasket, complete topend gasket set, transmission seals, etc...). i'm into the motor over a grand now for everything I did to it.
the goal of the car is to look really nice (complete JDM exterior treatment, very clean and nice interior, new paint, etc...) but be able to use 85 octane (that's regular here in Utah), and still get 30+ mpg. it will be my daily when it's done. I can drive the Silvia or the WRX when I want to go fast.
so over the past month i've slowly been stripping the car down to nothing (not as much as Bryant stripped his EF, but really close). I finally got the engine bay stripped pretty far and all masked off and had a friend come help me paint it this weekend. here are before and after shots...

what do you guys think so far?

Thanks dude. The carpet really helped me out. Shouldn't have tossed my original stuff, but I thought I could still get a new set at the dealer. I was wrong. Discontinued.

You remove the interior plastic panels and there are little nuts everywhere that you take off and the tail lights slide out. same for the center piece, but there's also a clip for that, if you aren't careful it will break.

thanks to everyone else for their positive remarks. The car should come out looking like a million bucks. It has cost me a crapload of money to put together, probably way more than it could ever possibly hope to book for, so I'll probably keep it forever. My first car was an 89 DX Hatch almost 10 years ago, so this 91 Si is sentimental for me.

project schmoject.
project schmoject.
Looks great!
Kind of similar to my current project but looks like you are going quite a bit further than me with the body work.
Didn't you used to have a GTR? I remember seeing one around a few times when I lived in Orem.
Keep us updated on the progress of your project!
