Default Exhaust is real quite??

Well I finally got an aftermarket exhaust for my hb. It used to have a p.o.s Pro 1 muffler, because that's the way I bought it. Well when I turned my car on after the install it was quiet as hell. I mean night and day. This thing is almost like stock quiet. I just thought it would be louder or at least deeper than it is. Anyone else have this exhaust or have an aftermarket exhaust thats quiet?

Yeah, quiet is good. Also the car feels a little more torquey. I'm just used to my 99Si's Racing Medallion. It's pretty deep and lound, although the Hyper sounds the same as the Racing when I put the silencer on. I wish they made the Racing Medallion for the hb, I would of really liked that one better. I was just wondering if anyone else has a DC or Thermal, and was also quiter than they thought it would be.

i have a tanabe hyper medalion also, its very quiet to. just wondering if you punched out your cat or have a high flow cat on it and if it was still quiet. i just ordered a high flow cat and am hoping it will be a little louder and give me a little more hp and torque

Nope, the cat is still stock. I just assumed that this exhaust would sound similar to my Racing medallion on my 99Si.

I went with a catco high flow cat (from summit), Dynomax Superturbo and a bent 2.25" piping.

It was louder than stock. Nicely louder, not bumblebeeish, but growlish. But it had this raspy "squicking" noise after 4000 rpm.

I put a resonator in after that and the noise went down to almost stock level which is just what I like. just when you are on WOT, the sound is louder than stock.

When I went with this setup, I felt a somewhat loss of torque (or maybe I just waas paranoid). I hoped to get some of it back with the resonator install, but didn't really feel much of it either.

It's all for a ZC.

when you want your exhaust to be louder than it should be... you got yerself a problem... i dont know how many of you can stand driving around with your car sounding like a broken lawnmower on steriods.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want it any louder. I was just assuming it would be loud. But thank god it's not. I don't need to give the cops a reason for stoping me. Cops and me don't get along very well. Maybe it has something to do with my warrants. ???
