Ground Contol: Bilstein and ITR ???
I have a few questions about a set of GC coils I have (and plan to sell). They are brand new and not for my setup, so I never really found out much about them.
My questions are:
1) Are Ground Control sleeves for integras other than ITR (GS, RS, LS, GSR) the same as for the Type R? As far as I know, the shock mounts differently to the (different) LCAs, but is the actual sleeve/spring different?
2) How are bilstein specific sleeves different than the more universal sleeve (for everything other than bilstein and koni)? Is it just the gold adapter in the sleeve?
3) Can the bilstein sleeves be modified into a set which applies to other shocks (i.e. removing/swapping the adapter)?
4) (and finally) Can bilsteins handle the 350/400 rate springs that are on the sleeves?
Thanks for your help in advance and I hope this is in the right section

1: 94+ Integra, 92-00 Civic & Del Sol Ground control sleeves should all be the same, and interchangeable. On those cars, the only difference is the rear lower shock mount , but not the spring seat.
2-3: Ground Controls "Bilstein/Koni" threaded sleeves are smaller in diameter (called Baby Tubes) so they can sit directly on a small snap ring on the shock body (no spring perch). The smaller diameter threaded sleeve requires a smaller inner diameter gold nut (called Baby Nuts) for adjustments. The Koni/GC sleeve cannot be fit to any other shock without replacing both the sleeve & the adjuster (nut) because they are too small.
Example of Baby Tubes on Koni's Sport Shock:

Ground Control does make special adapters to fit the standard sleeves & nuts to Koni/Bilstein shocks, but you still have to replace the original sleeves with special "fully threaded" ones (according to Ground Control). So, the only advantage with this option is that you retain your original gold adjuster nuts and that saves a little money (adapters cost less than new nuts).
4: Koni Sport shocks should be able to handle up to 500+ lb/in spring rates. I wouldn't go much higher, but many people still do. I don't know about the billsteins...

I have to change my last post because I found out that Bilsteins are not made by Koni (doh). Both brands use similar spring mounting systems, but that doesn't mean they are both the same diameter. I'll do some asking around & find out if they will fit...
Please be patient...

Bilstein shocks are much "girthier" than Konis. And a helluva lot heavier. If you measure the inner diameter of those GC sleeves, i'll tell you whether or not they'll fit Bilsteins.
I have a set sitting right here (for sale)
I'll measure them if you'd like.
Wait wait, it just came to me, why don't you try calling up Ground Control and asking them? I'm sure they'd know.

I tried, it's Ground Control, no answer and I also emailed them. They aren't particularly praised for their customer service. Thanks for your help.
So, you have a set for konis sitting there? I have a set for bilsteins sitting here (well at home)

Well, now that I think about it, it may have been lunch hour (they are in CA right?). I'll try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the help guys
