Amp wiring in a del sol
Hey all, this is probably a dumb question for those of you that have done this countless times, but this is my first amp in my sol...how do i get the wires through to the trunk? I've got some trim pieces removed, but i dont see anywhere to go through...havent removed the targa holder thing yet, so i'm guessing the whole is behind it somewhere?

you dont need any ANY drilling. Remove your back panels the compartment panels behind your seats remove the whole piece. If you dont know what im talking about (its the comparements underneath the rear speaker panels where you can put things in) 2 screws in each compartment and 2 screws on the bottom also remove your trunk trimming behind the rear glass. You WILL see at the bottom after u have taken those pieces out 2 holes on the bottom left and right corners of the rear speakers and just run the wires thru there. Install the panels etc etc back and your done ;] hope this helped
Dude what are you talking about? if he drills any where it will be thro the panel for the rear window and it will get all messed up.
Remove one of the side panels next to the storage bins. If you do the one one the drivers side you'll see a wire loom already running thro there. Push your wires up in there then remove the carpet in the trunk on the same side. You should see your wires there, just pull them thro and your done.
No drilling required.

yea i saw where you're talking about...it was pretty tight, so i had a hard time running a fish tape through there...wasnt sure if that was going straight through or not. Thanks!

Then you shouldn't have posted.
And since when is "caulk around the wires" an acceptable practice? Caulking is fine if you want to seal the hole, but you need to put a grommet in the hole first to prevent chafing of the wire's insulation. Without a grommet, the caulk will just hold the wire against the sharp edges of the hole you drilled, accelerating the damage...

Yup. You did. :claps for you:
Shoulda posted just that instead of the "drill and caulk" thing... But since "that's how it's done" then I guess it's okay...

I have had two amps wired in my sol. One behind me inside the car, and another in the trunk. The one inside the car i wired through the hole in the firewall by the battery, right above the evap system. Then just ran it under the carpet.
The one in the trunk was a bit more complicated. I ran the power wire through the sideskirt and up through the quarter panel through the hole by the shock tower under your trunk carpet. The rca cables i had to run through the front fender from by the ecu, with the power wire all the way back.
Hope this helps.
I dont have a system at all anymore
