Replace gasket with new valve cover?
I just bought a red valve cover to replace my old, paint chipped black one on my 1998 GS-R. Do i need to buy a new gasket or can i just reuse the old one? I assume it would be better to replace. Is there anything specific i should know when installing the new valve cover? It seems pretty straight forward. Thanks.
yep, its just as easy as it looks.
I would only change it if the rubber is getting hard. If anything the spark plug groomets are the 1st ones to go

One thing I would caution against is over-tightening when installing the new cover. While I've never had it happen personally, many people seem to have issues with shearing the bolts.

if yours hasnt been replaced recently then id say replace it, wehn i put a new gasket in i usually replace it after ive taken the cover off a few times.
