on my daily driver.....1996 Civic LX.......the ignition is stuck/sticky. When i put in the key and try to turn it, its very hard to turn and sometimes doesnt. Its to the point where i cant even get it to turn over. i need to play with the key to get it to the on position and then jump the starter solenoid. Whats wrong with my ignition. Is it the key cylinder or the tumbler? what do i need to replace?

 

Try some graphite on the key....Work the key in and out a few times.

 

tried it already.....it did nothing....the key slides into the hole just fine.....its turning it from off to acc to on to crank thats the problem.

 

Is the key worn bad?

 

no....i know its not the key. its the cylinder....like the actual part that turns.
