a cam gear is mostly for adjusting your timing, have never heard of any sufficient hp gains from one that couldnt have just been blamed on the dyno

unless u plan on doing a good amount of dyno tuning i wouldn't worry about getting one. but if you are go for it. i hear the new AEM is good, but not sure i go for big power adders not small expensive **** that doesn't do a lot in terms of HP. but they do look cool. well thats just my opinion. hope it helps.

A cam gear is just a gear: it cannot physically make any more power by any means other than weight reduction (in which case it's not making power, it's freeing it up). The best one to get is the cheapest one that won't break on the highway (Venom is good, SRR makes a good one, JUN makes a good one)

that venom gear doesn't look very strong inbetween the bolts there, i would suggest getting something a bit bulkier, like the AEM 3 bolt cam gear, the thicker the ribs the better, less likely to break

cam gear = no power.
theyre basically just for looks. ive never heard of any h.p. gains just from a cam gear.

Actually, you can extract a ton of power from a car through a cam gear. The trick is, you have to have the car on a dyno to do so, A and B.) you have to understand the pros and cons of advancing and retarding your mechanical timing.

If you're not going to tune it or adjust it, it's worthless.

yea, thats true, and to yield even greater gains, a cam would be a good idea to get at the same time. and if you do that, you might as well upgrade valves, retainers, blah blah blah... but yea, the Venom cam gear says it can safely rev to 12,500... its almost the most expensive SOHC camgear i have came across so far. but i am going to get it when i get enough money to completely rebuild my head ($2000 project)

well, i was on the phone whail i made that statement. i cant do 2 things at once. haha.
a ajustable cam gear on a stock cam advanced or retarded might give you a couple of horsepower. i dont see it giving you more than 5. especially to the ground. i see them as a waist of $$$.
