Default Really Strange Idle Problem...Searched Archives

00' ITR pretty much stock I/E. It all started with a code 7. It idled ok then but was in limp mode. So I got a new TPS and put it on. Cleared the codes and the CEL light is off now. Now, when I first start the car it idles good around 1000 rpms but the minute I started driving it, it got weird. At cruise if i depress the clutch it drops down to 3000k and stayed there. But when I'd come to a complete stop the idle would drop to 2000k for a few seconds and then drop down to around 1500k- 1700k. Now scratching my head I checked all vaccuum lines and have not found any leaks. So i cleaned up the K&N filter and checked the timing, changed cap rotor and plugs. Tried adjusting idle screw no go, then i decided to change the TB gasket. Same ****, that was yesterday. So today i decided to take the tb off again to make sure that both the TB seat and Intake Mani seat were both perfectly clean ensuring a good seal and torqued it back down to honda spec. Now its tonight and I drive to grab a cup of coffee same problem as before, ok, so the drive thru line was hella long and I decided to shut the car off, It sat there for about 5-8 minutes off. So i start it back up idles fine, i pull onto the highway and stop at a light, idle dropped to 300 or so an died. I restarted and drove off and now on de acceleration it is making a poping/ studdering sound like it was loading up with fuel and started to smell rich now it wants to cut out out when I stop. The CEL light is off and no codes. My brain is fried till tomorrow and any insight would be appriciated greatly. thanks

Paragraphs rock! I didn't even bother to read that.

How old are your 02 sensors?

It could be something else, but I'm sticking with fouled/broken 02 sensor(s). If a sensor is broken or malfunctioning it will make your car do all kinds of weird ****. I had a scimilar problem. Eradic idling...weird power...weird VTEC. Changed the O2's, reset the ECU and that was that.

What changed with your car from the time it was running fine until now? Did you recently install the aftermarket intake? What about the exhaust?

Nothing has changed except I changed the TPS, it has a Wepon R Short ram and a full Mugen twin loop exhaust, both have been on the car long before the problems. I figured If the o2's had gone bad I would have gotten a code for them but maybe not, I guess Ill change them see what happens, anyone else have any ideas... thanks for the help so far
