on oct 31 i got my car smogged with a little "help" from the tech. i have a 92 civic hb with a mildly built gsr motor. here are the specs of the head:
JG Pro Comp Head, Port and Polished
JG Pro Comp Valvetrain
JDM ITR Pistons
Itr Camshafts
Stock GSR Intake Mani
B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator
Stock Rail and Injectors
anyway, so the the guy retards the timing via the dizzy to get my hc levels down, and runs it pretty hard. white smoke pours out from the underbody of the car and the exhaust, but that wasnt too alarming.
what was, was when i took a look under the hood when he let off the throttle and white smoke was billowing from the exhaust mani and valve cover area. there was also a smell with the smoke...almost a burnt oil/exhaust smell that ive never really smelt before.
that freaked me out but there was nothing i could do. ever since then, the car has run noticibly hotter. my temp gauge says im cool, but the actual heat of engine has gone up conciderably (after 15 mins running, my hood is hotter then ever)
every now and then, ill smell that smell again (like burnt oil/ exhaust) and today i actually saw smoke from underneath my car. that, and my oil has been burning at a quicker rate than usual (we all know our hondas burn a little oil) another thing i have noticed is i have a little oil that is sitting on the intake mani before its bolted on to the head.
so...my question is, what do you any of you think might have happened to make my car run hotter, and burn more oil.
sorry for the long read and thank you or any positive responses.

Sounds to me like you have a small valve cover gasket leak.
As far as running hotter, make sure your fan relay switch is plugged in and the guy didnt accidently knock it out when he was messing with your timing. And did you reset the timing once the test was done? If it was running fine before, I would set the timing back to what you had it before the guy touched your car.

he said he only advanced it a slight bit when he put it back. i can vouch for that as my car idle was no different than before.
i looked all around the valve cover for sighns of just that, but the oil doesnt appear to be coming from there at all.
the more i think about it, the more i think i blew a headgasket and some valve seals
