Waistgate dump tube question

Waistgate dump tube question
I searched and just wanted to know. Do you have to connect the dump tube and down pipe? Or can I just keep them seperate. A lot of setups I've seen have them connected. If anyone could let me know.

What i've found you dont need to. Just what i wanted to do becuase less work. If a mod wants to delete this thread go for it
