Default should 96+ tegs have a "floater" in the clutch fluid resevior?

got my slave cylinder replaced today at a shop and while filling resevior, the guy asked me, where is the floater?

i told him, it never came with one. and asked him if it was important, and he started laughing. then said something about its not my clutch.

so im guessing it is important?

My '96 LS has one, don't think it's a problem if you don't have one though.

weird cuz, i tried to buy it on acuraautomotiveparts.org but for 96+ tegs, its not listed.

but if i drop the year down to 95, then it allows me to add a "floater" to the basket.

anyways, i'll just pick one up at the dealer.

After that comment that guy said I would be reluctant to pay him.

All that whole hydraulic system does, is push the slave cylinder in and out so the clutch can move.

If the hyrdraulic system doesnt work, then the answer is simple your clutch wont allow you to engage other gears.

There is no way a floater will cause any negitive effects to a clutch in terms of wear as he meant for him to laugh and say"Its not my clutch"

The floater is a indication of fluid level, and another purpose ive observed, when the fluid gets real low, It covers the hole into the clutch master, keeping abundance of air from entering and causing a loss of pedal and driveability.

That is complete proof, this guy has no idea what in the hell hes talking about.

I've left the floater out on several cars with no ill effects. I think it's just to keep the fluid from sloshing too much, and act as a level indicator. I can't imagine it affecting the hydraulic system's performance at all.

I have a spare one here that I'm not using. If you send me your mailing info, I'll get it mailed out tomorrow for you. No need to pay whatever the dealer would charge for it.

It's on its way. And don't worry about the postage - it's small and stamps are cheap.
