Well, my cam gear came loose a month or so ago, i just tightened it. Then a few weeks later my car started to make this ticking/knocking noise. I thought it was rod knock, so my dad came and towed me home (Hes a mechanic, but not a honda mechanic.)

Well we took took my cam gear off that came lose and it had some side-2-side play, so i replaced the cams and cam gears with ITR cams and AEM cam gears. Put it back together, and its still making the same noise.

The noise is coming from somewhere under the cam gears on the side of the motor. It sounds like something is hitting something and the tick increases with rpm. Im going re-check and do another valve adjustment tomorrow.

Any opnions on what it Could be?
Or what i should look for tomorrow while i have the valve cover off?

could be the LMA's. thats what happens mostly... they fail. check them.... pull the cams and push down on the middle rocker.... if it doesnt come back up then the lma is bad

lma? I know i stupid am.

 

Alright well, this noise is different from before, we took the valve cover off and wa la, the bolts from the aem cam gears were hitting the inner timing belt cover, a few min with the dremel and we got it out, no more ticking..

what are LMA's? and what is the MIDDLE rocker? We know we are stupid
