B16 swap in an integra?
Alright I've got a 95 integra that i picked up for cheap because the car needed new brakes, clutch, and axles. I fixed all that for hella cheap. The motor has a grip of miles 173,000 about. So anyway i pulled out the new plugs i put in about 4 months ago... and they are oily and the exhaust is blowin smoke so i know my rings at least are done. I'm planning on getting this b16a first gen motor on hmotorsonline.com. I need a cheap replacment and they are going for $599. First off, does anyone know if this motor is garbage or not? Im not looking for performance out of it. What i plan on doing is just dropping this in for temporary use while i build the b18b. Then im going to pull the head when im ready to drop and rebuild it. Does anyone know if i need new mounts ? What distributor will work? And ECU? Anything else i'd need? Please help if you know whats up.
You've got a 95. That's OBD1.
Your first gen B16A you are looking at is OBD0.
Best bet for ease of install/future projects is get a 2nd gen B16A. OBD1 is the way to go
Sorry for the short answer. I could have gotton a lot more detailed but that pretty much sums it up.

BTW, given the price, I'm assuming you aren't getting the tranny with it? B16A with RS/LS/GS (long geared) tranny = not the best choice (unless you're going turbo, then it can be a better option).
BTW2, if you do decide to purchase a B16A and tranny, remember you're hyrdo

a b16 in a 3rd gen is pointless, especially with the ls tranny. you wouldn't have any torque at all. you'd be much better off going with another ls motor, or get a gsr longblock. you'll be a lot happier than with a b16.

that's the way I'm going

yeah i agree get the b20 it performs better that the LS motor and the b16 in the LS ..the b16 will slow your car down ..i know you where not looking for performance in tit but if you must you can ... except you prob can use the odb0 in your car just do what i did to my b20 ..use your odb1 injectors and distributor..thats what i kinda did for my b20vtec except i bought a odb1 dstributor .. or you can cut one of the legs if you go the vtec route
