Default Gauges go crazy!

Comming home today I saw my tach and speedo needles go crazy and then go back to normal, then they went dead for a few seconds. It did this twice but the 2nd time it did it for about 8-10 seconds. I noticed that the interior/cluster lights got dim also so I turned of my headlights. A few more seconds pass and then everthing is back to normal. I did replace a drivers side axle earlier in the day could I have knocked anything loose or is it the altenator? I dont think I got a battery light but I dont know for sure. Any and all information is welcome.

Ok now its doing something else. I was going out to get some Chinese last night, get in the car, it starts and then shuts off. Start it again....same thing. WTF?? What the hell is causing this?

Try checking connections to ECU, my 95 civic had a similar problem with gauges, then one day it shut off completely and would not restart.

It ended up being a bad ground to the ECU.

seems like youre getting a lot of mixed signals, i had very similar things happen once and it ended up being my cap/rotor.
