Default HID retrofits?

Hey guys I tried searching, but has anyone done a retrofit for the 03-05 accord sedans? I actually drive Toyota but my friend drives an 05 accord sedan and he wants HIDs and I told him the only way to go is projectors, but I found out the only projectors out there are "for appearance" only and house halogens only. Can anyone help me find someone to do a retrofit for my buddy? We're in Orange County, the Westminster-Garden Grove area.

though it may not look that great, it may be easier to retrofit the desired projectors into the ebay projector headlamps...i don't know the geometry or the space behind the headlamp well enough to give much more opinion than that...

It's actually best and easiest to do it in stock housing. It's easier as well as better quality, and usually speaking, most aftermarket projector housings make it harder to align the beams as well from what I understand.

Here's where to look: http://motors.search.ebay.com/...Z6028

^^^

This is true. To a degree.

OEM headlights are the best quality headlights to work with.

Aftermarket projector headlights are a headache to work with, and they don't come out as well as oem. Working with aftermarket "JDM" headlights...are as easy as oem, but the quality is not the same. Plus. painting OEM looks so much better than the plastic inserts they use on those "JDM"/Ebay headlights.

If you want a professional to do your retrofit then check out customlightz.

If you want to gather information to do it yourself then hidplanet.
BTW, anyone who has spent more than five minutes in hidplanet knows about Rich aka azn99accord, and he's the one who runs customlightz.

Yeah. I agree,

Both him and Rich has been doing it since the beginning, but their work is the same except for the few times Larry uses fiberglass and carbon fiber.

However...Larry's fg retrofits cost $4000, and labor for a regular retrofit is $500+
Now that's ridiculous.

On the other hand, Rich charges $250 and from what I have seen his work looks better. I have a retro from him...and it's sweet.

I purchased some TYC double projector housings way back in the day. You were right when you said that they were designated for cosmetic use and halogen bulbs only, but there is an up side to retro-fitting these. After I disassembled my housings, removed the low-beam projector, and did some simple searching on http://www.hidplanet.com, I found that Valeo projectors from an Audi S4 are the EXACT same housing as my halogen projectors. If you were to CAD my TYC projector into a blueprint diagram, it would be identical to the Valeo, with the exceptions of the glass, cut-off shield, and the bulb mount. (original H3 halogens vs. D2S in the Valeos) Basically, the valeos mounted right up with no modification, and were extremely easy to aim since each TYC housing had two adjustable points and one pivot point.

I can't say your friend would be this fortunate if he tried it, but it definitely paid off for me. I'd say I've got one of the cleanest looking retros around since the housing was basically made for it.
