Default New Add-On.. Viper 1020 Gps Tracking

i just got this installed in the teg... I live in Ny and my car gettin stared down all the time gets me nervous so i opted to get another layer of security. I already have a the viper 791xv with sensors and now i just bought this:

They bidding on Ebay ended at about $315 which is not too bad considering some shops want 8-900 installed. Got it installed at a local shop for a buck.. not too bad.. This thing is great. Since I already have the viper dei pager an automatic sensor field is on whenever the alarm is armed. Also with a service I can track anytime during the day.. get phone calls if alarm goes off... and can turn the ignition off if someone was to steal my car.. Im called the insurance and they wont accept it as a better security layer so insurance didnt go down (not sure if its cuz im in ny) but overall Im very happy with it.

Looks nice i think i will get that with my next car that i am getting soon. You said some one will call you if your alarm goes off so does that mean that you pay a monthly fee or how does that work. If so how much do you pay?

Thanks

Your insurance didn't go down? Did they already give you a discount for your alarm? Do you have theft coverage? Maybe shop around some more cuz most companies I've come across will give you a discount for that. I switch companies every two years or so and save around $100 a year. I'm about as low as it gets now as I'm only paying $400 a year.

Have you tried testing it under a bridge etc? Are there parts of the country where there's no coverage?

its like $89 a year for 50 hits which mean a phone call or $110 for 150 hits a year. The first year you get a free "stolen car tracking" plan and you dont have to sign up for anything else. I want the extra security so i opted to pay the 110 a year for the different kinds of updates. I dont have theft all I have is liability. Insurance is a bitch in ny, so much money for nuttin. Idk maybe i will shop around a lil more. Viper says gps tracking all across the u.s. soo im guessin it covers all over

IMO GPS tracking wont catch on until the price come down. Prices are currently artificially inflated. They use GPS and cellular modules which are a dime a dozen these days (not really but they are cheap). The prices need to drop into the $200 range.
