Default q about fixing latch on a CF hood.

i already posted this in apperance/cosmetics but i think this might be a better place to ask.
the hood latch is bent, so i was thinking of using a torch to heat it up and then hammer it back into shape with a mallet.
here's my q- if i heat up the latch (which is metal) would it affect the carbon fiber and other moldings surrounding it? would it melt? btw, it's vis hood.
any input would be appreciated. thanks.

Can't you take the latch off, I had to transfer mine from my old hood to the new VIS hood. If you do that you can bend it back in a vice or something, I wouldn't try to put any heat near carbonfiber just to be safe.
